As you guys already know I absolutely love South Florida! At this particular moment in time there are only a few other places that I would rather live; and none are in the US. Although there is no place like home, I love to travel, especially when I am traveling to my hometown of Detroit, MI.
However, lately I have noticed that I don’t get home as often as I would like whenever I have a chance to go I am overjoyed. Which brings me to that time, not so long ago, when I hung out there with my Ford friends and family.
If you follow my travels, you know that last year I attended the 2015 Further with Ford Trends Show that took place in Sunny California. This year they switched things up a bit and this year’s show was held in….Yep! You guessed it, Deeetroit! LOL! As you can imagine there were several reasons why I was happy to be back, but one thing that really made it awesome is that this time of year is always so gorgeous. The weather is perfect! I love all of the different colors of the leaves and the slight nip in the air, and let’s not forget about the gorgeous fall fashion. It is totally a fashion girl’s dream.
I was really stoked that for this particular show the Westin Detroit Metro Airport was our host hotel. I simply love the Westin brand. I was totally amped about the location of the show, but I even more amped about the location of the hotel. It sits within the Detroit Metropolitan Airport, so when we arrived, instead of taking a shuttle to the hotel, we just conveniently walked. Don’t get me wrong, I never get tired of seeing all of the amazing sites along with way when taking a shuttle is necessary, but this was just a nice change.
These modern rooms have flat-screen TVs, desks and WiFi (fee), plus coffeemakers and pillow-top mattresses. Some offer mini-fridges and pull-out sofas. Suites add living areas and whirlpool tubs. Club rooms provide access to a lounge with complimentary continental breakfast and evening appetizers. Along with other amenities include a fitness center, an indoor pool and a spa, plus a business center, meeting space and a ballroom.
Also, there’s a fine dining restaurant and lounge set in an 80-foot atrium with an indoor pond. This is the area where we had a chance to meet and listen to the sounds of the talented and stunning Andra Day. It was such a nice and unexpected surprise! She is sooo amazing! I was really excited that one of my blogger babes showed me how to use FaceBook Live; yep I know! Total media influencer fail! HAHA! I just couldn’t figure it out! I am so happy she took the time to show me, because I was able to share this Epic moment in time with my FB family and friends.
If you know me, you know I was dying to get behind the wheel of a few of Ford’s awesome vehicles! I started off taking an all too familiar friend for a spin, the 2016 Ford F150. Next, I grabbed some sweet head gear and jumped into the 2016 Ford Focus RS. It’s so funny, because after I put my gear on I decided to take a selfie and boy did I get photobombed by the world’s greatest photo bomber! LOL! When I was going through my feed and saw the pic I laughed for hours. It is hilarious! Shortly after I finished the autocross, I headed over to test out a more laid back and relaxed beauty, the 2017 Ford Fusion Hydrid.
After a long day of testing out fabulously fierce rides and experiencing major adrenaline rushes, and getting photobombed I was starving. I headed over to the Dearborn Development Center for a wonderful lunch provided by Ford. I don’t know about you guys, but I always get tired after an exciting day and a good meal. I knew it was time to head back to the hotel and prepare for takeoff the next day.
Ford you are simply amazing, and it is always a thrill to hang out with you, especially in my hometown! Looking forward to seeing you soon!!!
Have A Happy Healthy, and Remember to Always…Stay Sassy!
