poncho for women

Hello Sassy Fashionista’s!

Let’s talk ponchos ladies! For some, a poncho can be a little intimidating, especially because they can be a bit unflattering if not worn properly. I have to admit, I do love a pretty poncho. I find them to be chic and sassy. If worn correctly and accessorized properly the style and fit can easily be considered perfect for any age or body type.

A young woman in her 20’s can wear the same piece as a woman in her 40’s or 50’s! The same for body types, both a slimmer and a curvy girl can rock the same piece and look equally as SASSY and chic!

On top of looking super fab, ponchos can be super cozy and comfortable….and I have to admit they are good for camouflaging all those munchies you ate last night while watching your favorite marathons. I am totally obsessing over Dexter right now. When I started watching the season, I was doing way too much and binging on cookies. I think it’s because the series is so intense I needed something to comfort me and calm my nerves…or it could just be that I am greedy! LOL!

So the other day I decided that I had to make a choice. It was Dexter or the cookies, and I chose my favorite serial killer and said bye bye to my favorite cookies. I decided that healthier living and a sexy serial killer were way more important than cookies and love handles. I stopped over at Trader Joe’s and grabbed a ton of veggies so I could catch up on the drama and veg out with no regrets.

OK wait my ADD kicked in…What was I talking about? Oh yes ponchos for women! Keep scrolling to check out some of my fave poncho styling tips.

Ponchos for Women – Styling Tips

Slim on the bottom – When I am letting the garment do its thing and be all flowy I will wear a slimmer fit on the bottom; such as jeggings with heels or shorts with wedge sandals or tall boots; both to accentuate the legs.

Choose a light color – During the warmer months, or when worn in warmer climates, like South Florida, choose a light color. They absorb less heat and have a vibe more suitable for warmer states.

Accessorize – I am all about accessories, but just remember to not over do it. You can belt it, add a bold necklace or add an oversized bag to get in the bohemian chic vibe. There have been times that I paired mine with a large belt, but I have to be honest I prefer the flowy look. It just seems to fit Florida so well. The possibilities are really endless when it comes to accessorizing a poncho. Fashion is totally about what makes you feel cute and confident. I say rock it however you like. If over accessorizing is your thing, then rock it. I have learned if you believe in it than other people will too.
