Hello Sassy People:
Recently, the owner of the Shoppe561 (Janelle), put together a soap making class, for the wonderful ladies from the South Florida Beauty and Fashion Bloggers group, and boy was it fun.
Scott, master soap maker extraordinaire, and founder of Washburne Soap, conducted the class. Although his presentation was very thorough and informative, he kept the class/environment very light and entertaining which made for a great evening.
While listening, we drank sparkling cider, and snacked on goodies by “Sweetly Done by Candi“.
Sahily from Pretty In Pigment and I co-hosted this event, and what we love most about this soap is that it is “natural, contains no animal products, an is scented with essential oils, and colored with natural clays”. It is an amazing product for problematic skin, due to lifestyle or climate conditions.
In addition to the soap being natural, there are several other cool attributes associated with both the class/soap. The first, is that you can get up to 5 – 6 pieces from the bar depending on how it is cut. Secondly, when mixing the ingredients you get to choose the color, scent and additives. It’s funny because I felt like I was in chemistry class all over again! Lol!
After much thought, I decided to go with a beautiful green for the color, and Jasmine, cocoa bean and a mild exfoliate for the scent/additives. As you can see below it turned out beautifully!
I am very happy with the look and smell of my soap. However, I have to let it “cure” for a week before I can actually use/share the results with my friends.
