Hello Sassy Peeps!
I am simply in love with Deerfield Beach! When I am looking to just chill out and find my inner peace, this is the place that I go to the majority of the time! Although it is very lively, it is also quite charming. On the days that I want to catch a nice little breeze and feel the fresh air against my face I walk along the pier. While doing so I always noticed a restaurant called, Oceans 234. Although I never stopped in, I was always intrigued, so you can imagine my excitement when I was invited to a foodie gathering to check out their new look/menu. #Yipee!!!
Oceans 234’s new vibrant, fresh look – inside and out – boasts an upscale contemporary casual South Beach-like resort chic with warm blend rich woods and subtle hues infused with frisky tropical bursts of turquoise, tangerine and natural greenery. A more distinguished and recognizable ‘sense of arrival’ leads to a reception area that immediately corridors to a direct ocean view and the centerpiece bar. With accent on ‘guest interaction’, the entrance is dotted with intimate entrance seating areas that lead to a raised area with a long banquette table for one large party or to be shared by multiple groupings. Both face the high-energy, re-invented 30-foot x 12-foot bar that features a captivating 10-foot by 10-foot stainless steel and wood stocked liquor rack suspended and hovering from the ceiling above. All playfully intermingle to welcome, excite, tease and engage.
Chef Victor Franco spent the last year creating and testing new menu offerings that befits the #NEW234. With the grand re-opening Franco presents menus featuring a number of guest favorites along with 75% new appetizers, entrees, side selections, bar bites, desserts and Sunday brunch fare who has also created a separate and extensive Gluten-free menu. Also awaiting guests is a roster of new signature cocktails and stalwart commitment to Oceans 234’s new wine program featuring 102+ brands to well-position the restaurant for a Wine Spectator Award. A new wine wall featuring 400 bottles is on full-view adjacent to the bar and reception area seating.
Returning guests as well as new diners are wowed by the new openness and beauty of the views devoid of any column obstruction and complemented well by new furnishings, artwork and new menu selections. Even when the Nano doors are closed, the system’s floor-to-ceiling windows allow the breathtaking oceanfront view to be seen by those dining inside or socializing at the bar. The obstructing columns on the exterior patio were removed to open up the outside — without interrupting the space — to deliver full views of the beach, ocean and the Deerfield pier…’so it is like going to the beach and enjoying it without getting your feet dirty’. Bathroom accommodations have been relocated to create more flexibility in seating inside providing for a first-time-ever private dining area – with full ocean view – that will accommodate up to 50 guests. A Nano glass sliding door system incorporated into the design opens up the building and bring more of the outdoors to its inside diners. Now let’s eat!
We started our meal with a delicious tuna stack appetizer topped w/diced tuna, avocado, fresh lemon juice, EVOO, and a side of crispy fried plantains, cilantro & lime sauce. This yummy dish was paired w/a fabulous drink called, Oceans Breeze. The delicious delight is made w/crop cucumber vodka or Boodles Gin, squeezed lime juice, fresh watermelon, and fresh cucumber slices. #Incredible!
Next, came Lobster potato skins, topped w/creamy spinach, bacon, Vermont white cheddar, truffle salt and paired w/ an amazing Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc. #AMustTry!
The Blackened Snapper Rueben, made w/ purple cabbage, marble rye, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing is super tasty, and was paired w/Oceans Margarita Patron Silver Tequila. #AFavOfTheNight!
The Surf and Turf Sushi Roll filet mignon, soft shell crab tempura, cucumber, cilantro, sesame seeds paired nicely w/a smooth Sake named TY-KU still has my mouth watering.
I couldn’t get enough of the Grilled Skirt Steak Plantain mash, roasted corn w/asparagus, flavored w/toasted garlic and lime reduction. The amazing dish was paired w/a thirst quenching Tito’s Wild Sparkling Spritzer Tito’s.
Last, but certainly not least, came the infamous Nutella French Toast paired w/Moet Ice Mojito! #Wowsers! I am still dreaming about this dish! #ATotalMustTry!
Thank you so much Bonnie and Oceans 234 for hosting this fabulous foodie get together! It was lovely!
