Hey Peeps!
I see a lot of posts asking people to learn. But what I realized is that I needed to learn more about my own history as well. So I began my journey to know more about my heritage. I ordered a few books and then a friend told me about universities that offer free online courses. I thought- wow! I need to look into that. Here’s info about the course I am currently taking. Will you join me on this journey to learn about African American history?
So I decided to start by taking a FREE online African American History course at Yale College.
Yep, you read it right! Yale offers a FREE Open African American History Course. A good friend told me about the course when she found out that I was interested in learning more about my history.
I googled it and here is what I found….
African American History: From Emancipation to the Present
Course Number: AFAM 162
Course Name: African American History: From Emancipation to Present
About the Course: To examine the African American experience in the United States from 1863 to the present (2010).
Course Instructor: Prof. Jonathan Holloway

Course Structure: This Yale College course, is taught on campus twice per week for 50 minutes, was recorded for Open Yale Courses in Spring 2010.
Course Materials: Downloadable
Warning: Some of the lectures in this course contain graphic content and/or adult language that some users may find disturbing.
Self Study Course
So basically the course is self study (DIY). You download the materials/links/lectures, read and do the work at your own pace. Talk about valuable information. I am so ready!
Stay tuned! This is about to get good! I will be randomly sharing my full experience here and on social media! I can’t wait. I have also ordered a few books that I will share with you as well.
So guys….am I the only one who has been living under a rock and had no idea that Yale offered FREE online African American History Courses? Inquiring minds would love to know!
Have A Happy Healthy, and Remember to Always…
Stay Sassy
Woooow grrrrreat information! Thanks for sharing
First off I want to say excellent blog! I had a quick question that
I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior
to writing. I’ve had difficulty clearing my mind
in getting my ideas out. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to
15 minutes are usually lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any
recommendations or tips? Appreciate it!
