Hello and welcome to another educated span of time with Tech with Sasha.
This week, I want to show you some amazing attributes that are making the news. I LOVE talking about mobility. Whatever takes you from point A to point B, I wanna know about it. And while some aspects of our society have slowed down due to the pandemic, others continue to soar at neck-breaking speeds. Speaking of soaring, let’s get right into it.
Mobility Evolution
BMW
Normally we would think of BMW as a luxury world-class vehicle, but they have been branching out beyond that for some time and NOW they have something truly exciting! Working with Designworks, BMW i has brought us JET PACKS!!! And not just ANY kind of jet packs but ELECTRIC powered jet packs!!! With the hashtag #bornelectric this baby is a chest-mounted rig with 2 7.5 kW carbon impellers spinning at a speed of 25K PRM capable of generating thrust for up to 5 minutes!! Yeah, only a 7 min ride altogether BUT at up to 186 MPH!! WOAH!! You can check out the amazing video here. No word YET on when or if this will come to market, but WOWZA what a sight that would be arriving at your next appointment.

The Bricklin 3EV
Since we are on the subject of stunning arrivals, have you heard about what Subaru is working on? Malcolm Bricklin is a legend among the automotive community and he has something pretty wicked instore for us, the adoring public! The Bricklin 3EV! And this isn’t just another EV, it’s an electric autocycle with THREE WHEELS!!! This stunning concept is taking luxury in full swing, with Lamborghini swing doors, a sleek and smooth outer design, and a single full-length display. The biggest draw, in my opinion, is the price tag. They are hoping for a price of just under $26K. Now, I know Christmas is right around the corner but now I know EXACTLY what to ask Santa to put under my tree next year!
Kawasaki K-Racer

That brings me to my last bit of news, Kawasaki. Now, this vehicle isn’t something you ride in, yet, but I still think it is fairly impressive. The K-Racer IV is a drone, a helicopter drove to be exact. While it has been a project for some time, we are seeing very successful strides to see it become an actual product of the future. They are dubbing this as a “Compound Helicopter” with the main rotor of just 4 m (13.1 feet) in diameter and wings /propellers on both sides in lieu of a tail rotor. When you see the video of it in action, you can see it is bigger than a full-sized motorcycle and yet powered by the supercharged engine that goes into the Kawasaki Ninja H2R. The uses for drones of this size are endless and will be life-changing once they become the norm.
So while we STILL don’t have our hover boards from Back to the Future, or our briefcase flying machines like The Jetsons, our day to day modes of transportation continue to change. Bringing to life the images of Science Fiction into reality. I don’t know what 2021 will show us, but I can’t wait to find out what type of mobility evolution is in our future. Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful weekend!
